Overview of Thai Dietetic Association : TDA
The Thai Dietetic Association was first established as The Thai Dietetic Society in 1974 and became Association on March 18, 2005. It is a non-profit private organization. There are 700 members (600 active members).

Mission
The Thai Dietetic Association
- Maintaining standard and continue quality improvement of dietetic practices
- Being the center of information regarding all aspects of nutrition and dietetics to fellow dietitians, health care professionals and general public
- Co-operating with other national/international organizations in exchanging our knowledge and experiences to improve the well being of our fellow man
Objectives
- To develop standard of dietetic practices
- To support continuing education to members
- To provide support for professional development and research
- To promote the role of dietitian in healthcare team and in
- To work with others to promote optimal health and nutrition status of Thais
Main Activities of TDA
- Published a journal on a quarterly basis
- A yearly short course training for dietitian: a continuing education
- Develop educational tools
- Co-operate with other organizations in setting up nutritional conference and workshop.
Professional Training
- A yearly short course continuing education 4-5 days, 400-500 participants from various hospitals of the country .
- Every 3 years, a short course 3 days training for academic professionals, 200 -300 lecturers from various universities/colleges.
- In collaboration with Thai League of Diabetes Educators, two short course training programs for diabetes educators/year
1. Basic Knowledge: Caring of diabetic patients: 5 days
- 150-200 diabetic educators
2. Medical Nutrition therapy for diabetes mellitus: 3 days
Activities of TDA
- Published standard of dietetic practices manual for Hospital accreditation
- Part of a judging committee on National food contest for 5 regional provinces in menu planning for
- 5-15 year old children
- Working persons

- Organizing and participating in a nutritional seminar for nurses
- In co-operation with The Thai Kidney Foundation , organizing and participating in a workshop for patients with chronic kidney disease .
- Developed Thai food model as educational tool.
- Developed Thai Exchange List
- Developed booklet advising the Thai Consumer on Healthy Thai Foods.

Collaboration with other academic institution members in dietetic fields are essential to motivate, develop, and strengthen the dietetic country program. |
